Dr. Dwight D. Perry is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmologist and community leader
in North Carolina. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of North Carolina Central
University. He was recently appointed by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper to serve on the
North Carolina State Health Coordinating Council. He also currently serves as a member of the
Board of Directors of the North Carolina Specialty Hospital. He has been a member of the
Central North Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Foundation for Better Health of
Durham and the John Avery Boys and Girls Club. Dr. Perry mentors high school students
interested in the medical profession by providing them with career shadowing opportunities.
Dr. Perry is a summa cum laude graduate of North Carolina Central University and earned the
M.D. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds the distinction of
being a diplomate and examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
